This day course will give you the chance to make some pottery items in the morning and decorate them in the afternoon, leaving them with me to be fired and glazed.
After a welcome and introduction chat covering the different hand-building techniques (coil pot, pinch pot, slab built or wheel-thrown), you will choose which is your preferred method to create your clay items . I will give you a brief demo before you start and then it’s over to you to enjoy the wonders of playing with clay, with my guidance.
Your pots will get a chance to dry over lunchtime and then you will choose up to 3 items to decorate in the afternoon using coloured underglazes or slips (runny coloured clay).
The items will be left with be to be dried, then bisque-fired. I will apply a clear glaze and fire them again. This all takes about three weeks before you can pick them up.
Lunch is not included but we recommend our local pub 5 minutes walk away, or bring your own packed lunch and eat it here. There is also a Tesco five minutes away.
I teach on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, if there is another date that you would like to enquire about please ask.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
